PRODUCT FACT
The 8P8C (8 position 8 contact, also backronymed as 8 position 8 conductor; often called RJ45 ) plug is the male type of modular connector commonly used for Ethernet over twisted-pair applications, where the plug on each end terminated using the T568A or T568B pin/pair assignments that are defined in ANSI/TIA-568-C.2 standard.
These connectors are commonly used in computer networking and other telephone applications involving unshielded twisted-pair (UTP), shielded twisted-pair (STP), and multiconductor flat cable. Most network communications today are carried over Category 5e, Category 6 or Category 6A cable with an 8P8C modular plug crimped on each end.
